How to display hidden files in FileManager? – cPanel

Any file or folder that has a period (. or dot ) as its first character is considered as hidden. A classic example would be the htaccess file on the server.

Depending on the settings of your FileManager, it might or might not be visible upon accessing the folder that it resides on. If you are unable to view the file in your file manager, it means you do not have the ‘Show hidden’ option turned on in the FileManager settings. In order to show hidden files, follow these steps.

  1. Access file manager
  2. Click on ‘Settings’ at the top-right corner
  3. filemanager-settings

  4. Check the box that says ‘Show hidden files’ and the click on save
  5. filemanager-preferences

You should now be able to see all the hidden files in your File Manager.

All files and folders, including the hidden ones are visible by default in FTP clients such as FileZilla
