How to access and manage emails in webmail?

In a previous post I have provided the steps to create an email account in cPanel. Now, let us check the ways to access the email account and manage emails through webmail.

There are two ways to access your emails created through cPanel.

  1. Through cPanel – Email accounts
  2. Through direct webmail login

Through cPanel – Email accounts

This method does not require you to know the password. You can either use this method to access webmail for a different account in cPanel, or you can just change your email password
  1. Login to cPanel and search for Email in the search bar at the top of the screen and click the link that says Email accounts

  3. Scroll down to find the list of your email accounts and find the email address you would like to access through webmail. If you have a lot of accounts, you can use the search bar to find the right account
  4. Click on ‘More’ on the right most corner of your email account and then click on ‘Access Webmail’ to access webmail

Through direct webmail login

  1. Access webmail directly through one, or either of these links depending on your hosting provider:
  2. Upon accessing the link above (use your domain and the correct port), you should see a login page as shown below. You will need to enter your complete email address and the password associated with the same in order to access the next page.

Upon initial access to webmail, you will be asked to choose a default webmail client to access your emails. You can choose one in this phase, or you can choose at a later time by ignoring this request. They are usually Horde, Squirrelmail and Roundcube.

They are all used to manage the email account and we can chose one, depending on the interface and functionality we would like on ur client. I like RoundCube, so for the purpose of this post, I’ll select Roundcube as my default webmail client.

Below is a screenshot of the default Roundcube interface. On the left side, we have the default folders (Inbox, Junk, Sent etc). We can also see that we already have an email in the inbox (since we opted in to receive an email with configuration settings)


Upon opening the message, we receive different options at the top bar and we can choose the necessary option according to our need:

The compose option here would compose a new email. If we’re replying to the email that we received, we would want to use the ‘reply’ option instead.


In order to personalize the email account settings, we will need to access the ‘Settings’ tab at the top right corner, then click on ‘Identities’, then click on ’email address’ and then use the options on the right side. We can use this interface to make changes to the display name (Name that appears on the receiver’s inbox), manage email signatures, etc
